Salmon with Lemon - Tarragon Butter

I just completed Giulia Melucci's book - I loved, I lost, I made Spaghetti. With many thanks to Taryn over at dragonflymoments here

'From failure to Fussilli, Giulia Melucci's delicious memoir is a hilarious account of her fizzled romances and the mouth-watering recipes she uses to seduce her man, and then console herself when each relationship flames out.'

While not the most well written missive and containing a few grammar faux pas (which I know I am guilty of) it was still extremely entertaining, funny, sad and at times hard hitting. The names of some of her recipes made me smile - No Nookie Gnocchi (while between boyfriends and considering entering the convent), Real Estate Roast Chicken (when she thought she had found the new apartment of her dreams) Frugal Frittatas (when money was tight) and my favourite the Fuck-You Cakes (when she exorcised the man from her life who left her for a much younger woman - but before he begged her to come back)

This is one of the recipes I am looking forward to trying out over the weekend, maybe at my Mum's farm.

Salmon with Lemon-Tarragon Butter
3 tablespoons of unsalted butter
Juice and zest of 1 large lemon
Freshly ground pepper
2 salmon fillets
Salt
1 1/2 tablespoons fresh tarragon, minced

Melt butter with lemon juice and zest in a small saucepan over low heat.
Place salmon skin side down on a grill pan (or bbq)
Brush with 1/2 the butter mixture, season with salt and pepper.
Cook until just cooked through, about 20 minutes (there is no need to turn)
Transfer to plates (Skin will stick to pan)
Add tarragon to remaining lemon butter.
Spoon over salmon and serve.
Serves 2

Yummy! Tonight its my glamour in an instant duck curry. 20 mins from when I arrive home until its on the table (not including the Nigella market style shopping in China town on the way home) but it makes me feel glamorous.

~ Digella's Book Club ~

I have been away a little while. There was an unexpected death in the family and has taken a little while for the dust to settle. I am back now and hopefully with some inspiration for exciting blog entries.

Today I wish to share with you a list of favourite books.

There are coffee table books, design books, cook books, quirky books, how-to-be-happy books.

Today is the 'reading' books. Some are fiction and some non fiction.  They are the kind you could learn something from.

My favourite books of this style are hard cover. No more than 300 pages. And they have to grab me in the first three pages otherwise I'm out.  I never really got into many of Oprah's Books in her book club. They all sounded great, but maybe were a little too deep for me. One book I did not like was The House of Sand and Fog. It was creepy!

I have just started Mitch Albom's new book. Not sure where it fits in my favorite books of all time as I am yet to finish it! And the others here make up my top five.

Have a Little Faith

Have a Little Faith is a book about a life’s purpose; about losing belief and finding it again; about the divine spark inside us all. It is one man’s journey, but it is everyone’s story.

My number 1 book of all time is another of Mitch Albom's books.  This book has sold over 11 million copies throughout the world and is the is the bestselling hardcover first-time novel ever! WOW!
